They, more than anyone else, are America's ambassadors of Rock and Roll to the non-English speaking world and the World's all-time #1 rock instrumental group. Unfinished Business Productions will also present Johnny Winter in concert at The Clark Center for the Performing Arts Theater in Arroyo Grande on Wednesday November 1, 2006 at 7:30PM. Reserved seat tickets will be $35 in advance, $40 day of show. For over 30 years, Johnny Winter has been a guitar hero, constantly shifting between simple country blues in the vein of Robert Johnson, to all-out electric slide guitar blues-rock. Winter's first album was released in 1969, with critics claiming "Winter made blues-rock music for the angels." Later, Winter helped introduce blues giant Muddy Waters to another generation of listeners by producing and playing guitar on the Grammy-winning "Hard Again" (1977), as well as the Grammy-nominated "I'm Ready" (1978). Winter's recent Grammy nominated "I'm A Bluesman" disc has only added to his Texas-sized reputation. More information about Johnny Winter can be found on his website: http://johnnywinter.net. Guy Budd and the Gypsy Souls will open for Johnny Winter. Tickets for both concerts are available at The Clark Center box office, located at 487 Fair Oaks Avenue in Arroyo Grande, by phone at (805) 489-9444, and via the Internet at www.clarkcenter.org. A portion of the proceeds from both concerts will be donated to the Central Coast chapter of Guitars Not Guns, a non-profit organization. GNG will also receive the proceeds from the silent auction of donated guitars at each concert. GNG's goal is to stop violence in schools and on the streets by diverting as many children as possible from the self-destructive behaviors of drugs, alcohol, crime, and gang activity. GNG's mission is to provide guitars, lessons, and mentoring to foster children, youth at risk, and other deserving children regardless of ability to pay. By exposing children to music, GNG hopes to engage their creative potential. More information about GNG can be found on their website: www.guitarsnotguns.org |
