Dave Hollister - Drums

'60s drumming isn't just surf beats over and over. The music of the 1960s was more demanding on the drummer than any instrument. The Motown pocket had to be smooth and funky. The rock and roll had to have both power and finesse. The frantic surf music was physically demanding and metronomically precise. The ballads had to have warmth as well as musical design. Dave Hollister is the textbook drummer for a '60s tribute band.

Dave is like a machine, laying down the exact beat of any tunes from these diverse styles. His attention to nuance and the smallest detail make every tune authentic. Foremost in his performance is the hypnotic spell he casts that commands the crowd to pack the dance floor from the very first tune. Powerful, musical, danceable and tasteful, Dave is the heartbeat of Unfinished Business.

Dave took up drums in 1962 while growing up in Santa Barbara. He started playing in bands in the mid 60's and subsequently toured with the musical, "Godspell", and the Austin, Texas, based Doc Jones Band. Dave performed with various other bands in Colorado and Northern California before moving back to the Central Coast a few years ago.

Dave resides in Arroyo Grande, where he continues to be an in-demand session drummer on many diverse projects.
